Electrical Engineer

Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer position is mainly responsible for analysis and design of electrical architecture and circuitry for mission- and safety-critical spaceflight systems. This role is focused upon analyzing and designing new circuits and/or modifying existing circuit designs to achieve improved performance, cost and reliability. The individual will report to the Director of Engineer.
Qualifications
- Produce electrical drawings, and specify components needed for the development of data acquisition & control systems
- Work with systems engineers and design teams to define electrical interfaces between systems
- Produce engineering drawings for electrical harnesses per NASA/MIL standards
- Define pinouts and select electrical connectors for hardware
- Oversee the design, fabrication, and procurement of electrical components and harnesses
- Work with systems engineers and design team to develop verification and validation approach for electrical requirements derived from NASA/MIL standards
- Troubleshoot and perform anomaly/problem resolution during developmental testing
- Identify and support procurement of EEE parts applicable to contract obligations
- Participate in peer reviews of electrical components and systems delivered to customers
- Participate in requirement development activities and life cycle reviews
Additional – but not limited to:
- Understand and design electrical circuits
- Understand bonding and grounding requirements
- Design/draw overall electrical schematic
- Manage system power budget
- Design/detail wiring and connectors
- Design/fabricate/debug custom circuitry
- Work with Systems/Mechanical Engineering for overall product improvement
- Understand NASA/MIL requirements related to EEE parts/processes
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Control Systems Engineering, advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience; experience within a manufacturing operation is highly preferred.
- Embedded system design and analysis experience required.
- Demonstrated aptitude in designing and building electronic subsystems.
- Experience in digital and analog circuit design and analysis.
- Board layout and design would be a plus.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Superior communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.
- Excellent follow-through.
- Must be driven and self-motivated.
- Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality.
- Experience with spaceflight qualification programs
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder)
